AI Performance Overview

AI Performance provides you with a comprehensive view of how AI-driven traffic influences your site's performance. With clear insights into which AI platforms—such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini—are driving traffic, you can effectively optimize your content and strategies. Analyze key metrics like clicks, conversions, and engagement, and see how AI traffic compares to traditional organic sources. Tailored dashboards allow you to segment data and understand the geographic impact, giving you the tools to confidently adjust your AI search strategies and link their impact directly to business outcomes.

Background & Requirements for AI Performance

To view comprehensive AI Performance metrics within the platform, you simply need to ensure your Site Analytics are integrated.

  • Follow our Integration Guides to connect your Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics account

  • Include referral traffic from AI engines

  • Once the integration is complete, your performance data will typically appear within 24 hours

AI Performance Use Cases

  • Content Engagement: Identify what types of content are engaging users in AI engines.

  • Conversion Tracking: Tracking conversions helps measure the financial impact of AI engines.

  • Traffic Analysis: Understand what percent of traffic is coming from AI engines.

Filter & Segmentation Definitions

  • AI Search Engines: A filter allowing you to isolate traffic from specific AI platforms. Selecting "All" aggregates data from all identified AI sources.

  • Content Type: A segmentation tool used to categorize your URLs (e.g., Blog Posts, Product Pages, Resource Guides).

  • Page Tag: Custom labels to group specific sets of URLs (e.g., "Spring Campaign 2026" or "High-Margin Products"). This allows for granular performance tracking of specific internal projects.

  • Country: A geographic filter that narrows down the traffic data to specific regions or countries where the AI search queries originated.

  • Date Range: The specific timeframe for the data shown.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Traffic: The total number of sessions or visits to your website that were referred directly by an AI search engine during the selected period.

  • Bounces: The number of visits from AI search engines where the user left the site after viewing only one page without any further interaction.

  • Pages Receiving Traffic: The count of unique URLs on your website that were clicked on from an AI search result.

  • AI Search as % of Total Organic: It calculates what portion of your total organic search traffic is coming from AI engines vs. traditional search.

  • Add Metrics: Choose which metrics to display in your summary view by checking or unchecking metrics. Create custom metrics tailored to your needs. Set up custom metrics here.

Trend Tabs

  • Overall: The default view that provides a high-level trend line of total AI-driven traffic across all sources and pages.

  • By Engine: A breakdown view that separates the performance metrics (Traffic, Bounces, etc.) by the specific AI provider, allowing you to compare which engine (e.g., ChatGPT vs. Perplexity) is your largest traffic driver.

  • Metric Selector dropdown: Select the desired analytics metric from the top right of the chart to view the corresponding data within.

Performance Tables

The AI Performance Tables provide a detailed, bottom-up view of how AI search engines interact with your website. While the top-level charts show you what is happening, these tables explain where and how that value is being created. By breaking down your data into specific dimensions—Pages, Engines, and Content Types—you can move beyond basic traffic numbers to understand the true business impact and ROI of your AI optimization efforts.
