Historical Ranking Data Integration Overview

The following steps will show you how to integrate a historical rank data into seoClarity so your domain’s data can be loaded into the platform. Historical ranking data integration may incur an additional cost depending on the contract agreement.

Background & Requirements

The most important requirement for integrating historical ranking data into seoClarity is to ensure the format provides all required data noted below. The file name should contain the domain and date for which the report belongs to. Reports should be specific to just one domain. 


Required Dimensions & Metrics

  • Date: The date of collection for the ranking data.
  • Keyword: The keyword that was rank tracked.
  • Search Engine: The search engine for the ranking data and can be Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, or Baidu.
  • Location: The specific location that the ranking data belongs to. This is typically a country, though it could be a more specific location.  
  • Device: This is the device type used for the search engine specified and is either Desktop or Mobile. 
  • Rank: This is the position where the ranking URL was found for the keyword.
  • Ranking URL: The URL found ranking for the keyword in the search results.


Optional Dimensions & Metrics

  • Keyword Tags: The keyword tag groups for the keyword can be included where available. 
  • Search Volume: The search volume for the keyword from Google Keyword Planner.


Historical Ranking Data Integration Example 

The screenshot below is a 3 line sample file of a historical ranking file. It includes both the required metrics and some of the optional metrics.


Delivery Method

Ranking data can be delivered in a variety of ways, with e-mail and sFTP being the most commonly utilized options. The sFTP method is preferred and those profile specific credentials can be attained via the Integrations tab on the Settings page.
