On-Demand Data

On-Demand Data

On-Demand Data Overview

On-Demand Rank Intelligence data, formerly known as Ad-Hoc Data, allows for on-the-fly analysis of keywords' rank or Average Search Volume checked using the On-Demand Data Retrieval setting. The keywords do not need to be part of your managed or tracked keyword set in Rank Intelligence. This is ideal for one-off research, competitor analysis, or exploring new keyword opportunities without affecting your KSQ limits on your subscription.

On-Demand Data Use Cases

  1. Use On-Demand ranking in Rank Intelligence when you have a set of keywords, not necessarily in the domain's managed/tracked keyword set, when you need a quick, one-off rank check.
  2. Gather Average Search Volume for a set of keywords.
  3. Find top competitors based on your project keyword set.
  4. Search for a specific domain to view corresponding ranking data based on the project keyword set.

Background & Requirement for On-Demand Data

Keywords need to be rank checked via an On-Demand Data Retrieval project for that set of keywords' data to be available in the On-Demand feature. Create a new On-Demand Data Retrieval project in Settings to get started. For Ranking projects that did not have search volume retrieved, search volume data and related metrics, (Share of Voice, Estimated Traffic, etc), will not be available. Newly added keywords can take up to an hour or two to appear in the platform from the time the request enters our processing queue. Keywords are processed at typically 50,000 per hour for data retrieval.

For a quick introduction, watch this video below:

Create an On-Demand Data Retrieval project

In the Rank Intelligence navigation menu click on On-Demand.

Inputs
Project: Select a project to view the related ranking data for that keyword set. Once selected the On-Demand Rank Intelligence is displayed.
Domain: Search for a domain to view corresponding ranking data based on the project keyword set. By default this will search the domain of the profile currently being viewed.

Summary Chart - AIO

Avg. Rank: This displays the average rank of the project keyword set for that rank check date.

Keywords with AIO: This displays the number of keywords from the On-Demand project with AIO results.

Summary Chart - Search Volume

Keywords: This displays the total number of keywords checked for Avg. Search Volume.

Total Search Volume: This displays the monthly total Avg. Search Volume for the keywords contained in the selected project

Data Tables

Keywords: This displays the project keywords set with their rank and ranking URL based on the selected domain(s).

Pages: This displays a pivot of the keywords table, where the ranking pages are shown along with the count of keywords ranking, the average rank, and Top x Rankings.

Folders: This displays a pivot of the keywords table, where the ranking folders are shown along with the count of keywords ranking, the average rank, and Top x Rankings.

Subdomains: This displays a pivot of the keywords table, where the ranking subdomains are shown along with the count of keywords ranking, the average rank, and Top x Rankings.

Top Competitors: Top Competitors displays a summary of top performing competitors based on the project keyword set with their selected metrics.

Clusters: The keywords you upload are automatically grouped into topical clusters using our proprietary algorithm which takes into account what Google actually sees as closely related. Watch this 8-minute webinar to learn more about this capability and how to use it in your content strategy.

AI Overviews: This displays keywords that were uploaded for an AIO On-Demand rank check, if the keyword appeared in AIO results, and rank position in AIO results.

AIO Competitors: This displays your AIO competitors based on the On-Demand rank checked keywords in the project. The table includes average rank, top 1, 3, and 10 rankings.

Filtering

Rank Type: Web Rank counts rankings based on standard (blue) web links and True Rank counts other organic results like images.

Listing Count: Filter for keywords where that domain has a certain number of ranking URLs listed with options for Equals, Greater Than, Less Than and Between.

Rank: Select the ranking range to be viewed with options for Equals, Greater Than, Less Than and Between.

Content Type: This allows for nested filtering of pages based on multiple criteria using AND OR statements to be saved and reused. This applies to all dates selected in the data table, which means it will display all keywords where that type of URL is found ranking at least once.

Search Intent: Search Intent helps segment data by the underlying intent. This is most commonly used for Brand and Non-Brand analysis. Simply specify the patterns to match and the data is segmented on the fly immediately.

Keyword: Select the type of keyword to be viewed with options for Is, Isn't, Contains, Doesn't Contain,  Starts With, Ends With, and Regular Expression.

Ranking URL: Select the type of URL to be viewed with options for Is, Isn't, Contains, Doesn't Contain,  Starts With, Ends With, and Regular Expression.

SERP Features: This filter option allows you to narrow down the keywords that a domain ranks for based on the universal rank features discovered for the keyword. This is NOT filtering for the domain's rank IN the universal rank type - instead, it simply shows keywords where the universal rank feature was present. A common use case is to filter by "Answer Box" to see all the keywords where the domain was ranking that also had an answer box present. An even more advanced used case is to combine this with the rank filters. For example, you could apply the Answer Box filter and also the Rank filter "between 2 - 10" to display all keywords where the domain ranked, the answer box was present, but the domain was not in the Answer Box (Since Answer Boxes are counted as Rank position 1, if we set the rank to be between 2 - 10, it would indicate keywords where the domain was not in the Answer Box but was still in the top 10 results.

  • Answer Box: Results will be filtered for SERPs that include Answer Box SERP results
  • Images: Results will be filtered for SERPs that include images
  • Local Listing: Results will be filtered for SERPs that include Local Listings results
  • News: Results will be filtered for SERPs that include News pack results
  • PPC: Results will be filtered for SERPs that include PPC results
  • Shopping: Results will be filtered for SERPs that include Shopping (Ads) results
  • Videos: Results will be filtered for SERPs that include videos
  • Job Pack: Results will be filtered for SERPs that include Job Pack results
  • People Also Ask: Results will be filtered for SERPs that include PAA results
  • AMP: Results will be filtered for SERPs that include Accelerated Mobile Pages
  • FAQ: Results will be filtered for SERPs that include FAQ results
  • None: Results will be filtered by keywords not found in SERP features

Ranking URL Features: Select this option to filter data for URLs that have or do not have Price Schema, Stock Schema or Star Rating features.

Include 100+: Selecting this option will include keywords that are not ranking (101) in metric calculations like Average Rank.

Downloading Data
Once a project completes there is a copy of the raw data that is placed in your domain's FTP location available for download.
Individual completed projects can be opened and downloaded from the download icon. This will open a new tab containing the .txt file of the contents of the project.

Note: Downloads are not available for Projects that are older than 90 days. You can still review the rankings directly within the platform's UI.

To return to the projects view and see relations and metrics listed above, the completed project name can also be clicked on. This will display the selected project, and give the option to view others.

Note: We understand how important your data is to you and we want to ensure that it remains safe and secure. To that end, we have implemented an FTP file retention policy of 30 days. On-Demand files can be downloaded from the FTP at any time during this period.
