Keyword tags can be arranged into nested hierarchies in Rank Intelligence. Creating hierarchical tags enables advanced segmentation and analysis not possible with flat-structure tags. (Scroll down to take a quick video tour of tag hierarchies.) When arranged into hierarchies, child tag metrics are automatically rolled up to their parent tags (though you can isolate to just the metrics of keywords in a parent tag by hovering it and clicking "Only."
Creating Tag Hierarchies
Tag hierarchies are created and managed in the Tag Organizer. To access the Tag Organizer, click the pencil icon next to the Filters section header in Rank Intelligence. (Scroll down for a quick video tutorial on creating tag hierarchies.)
In Tag Organizer drag any tag from the Tag pane and drop it on a tag in the Organize pane you want it subordinate to.
The new tag arrangements are instantly available in Rank Intelligence after a screen refresh. Consider making the child tag a parent instead.
In the Tag Organizer, any tags that aren't part of a specific group hierarchy will fall under the main parent tag labeled "Unassigned" or "Unassigned Tag Hierarchy." This makes it easy to identify and manage tags that haven't been categorized yet.
Note: A child tag can only be assigned to one parent tag. If you try to add the same child tag to multiple parent tags, the platform will prevent it to avoid creating a loop where the child tag acts as a parent. To avoid this, assign each child tag to a single parent or make it a parent tag instead.
Tag hierarchies can also be created in bulk by clicking the Add button, opening the Keyword section, and selecting Keyword Tag Hierarchy. Follow the instructions in the popover window to create a bulk tag hierarchy list.
