Top Competitors: Universal Competitors

Overview

Universal Competitors can be setup via Top Competitors or in settings via the Universal Competitors tab. This article covers how they can be set via the Top Competitors feature. A Universal Competitor is a domain that can be manually selected so that it can be used as a filterable option in features like Rank Intelligence, Top Competitors and Dashboard widgets. This can be helpful to use when comparing performance against a domain that isn't a top ranking competitor, which is what Top Competitors highlights by default.

To add a Universal Competitor, select either the VS icon in the Top Competitors table or use the checkbox option with the Add as Universal Competitor Action option. When the VS icon is orange, that indicates it is set as a Universal Competitor and where the VS icon is gray, that indicates it is not set as a Universal Competitor.
