Content Guard and Content Guard Plus (enabled feature)

Content Guard Overview

Content Guard is available to all users with a Core level subscription or higher. It provides a webpage change monitoring system by running on seoClarity’s existing global scale crawl infrastructure. Content Guard Plus enables the ability to monitor pages of competitors and receive hourly updates if needed.

Content Guard Background & Requirements

Content Guard Plus can be enabled by contacting your CSM or by sending a request to support@seoclarity.net. Please note enabling this feature may include additional costs outside of your subscription. Custom on-page elements can be added for tracking via the Content Guard Crawler settings.

Content Guard Use Cases

  1. Find out about critical changes when they happen.
  2. Monitor any page for any change such as additions, deletions, and modifications.
  3. Customize your alerts for types of changes, who receives the alerts, the frequency, and where alerts are sent.
  4. Receive detailed reports with viewing options.

Content Guard

Content Guard alerts you to over 100 possible changes to any of the pages you track in your seoClarity subscription. This feature can be found under Page Clarity on the left side navigation menu.

How To Configure Content Guard

After selecting Content Guard under the Page Clarity menu, click on Configuration in the top right corner.

This will automatically open the Page Crawler in Settings where you can select the elements you would like to track changes on.

How To Track Custom Content in Content Guard

To track custom content in Content Guard open "Page Crawler" in settings and specify custom content that you would like tracked for each managed page

Content Guard Summary tab

The Content Guard Summary tab displays the element that changed, severity, the number of pages affected, and assign an action item related to those changes. Open an element change to view the list of URLs affected, the date, what the change was previously, and what it is currently.

Content Guard Change Log tab

The Change Log tab shows all the changes detected by URL, the severity of the change, the changed element, what it was previously, what it is currently, the date of the change, and assign an action item related to those changes. From the Change Log tab you can also download the complete list of changes by clicking on the icon of an arrow pointing down. It is located on the top right of the table. Clicking on an URL will open the Page Clarity page for that URL.

Content Guard URL tab

View all the URLs, their total count of changes, critical severity change count, and medium severity changes count. Open the dropdown under the URL to view the date, what type of changes were made, the updated change, and a trend line displaying how many changes were made by date. Hover over the trend line to see the count of Added, Removed, and Modified.

Content Guard Email Alerts

Email alerts can be configured individually for each group via the Configure Alerts button in the top right.

You can choose which changes they wish to be alerted about, and who should be receiving alerts. This is useful to reduce unnecessary change alerts and reduce noise. For example if a client has dynamically updated titles, they may not want to be alerted about title changes. Instead they may only care if Title is removed.  You can also choose whether to send alerts to a registered user or an unregistered user.

Content Guard Plus

Paid subscribers to Content Guard Plus includes the ability to monitor pages of competitors and receive daily or hourly updates. Watch this video for a quick walkthrough of Content Guard Plus:

Content Guard Plus Group Creation

Once Content Guard Plus is enabled, pages can be added through the Universal Add Elements function. This will create the initial Content Guard Plus table.

Content Guard enables clients to organize pages they’d like to monitor in “Groups”. Choose a Group name or select an existing Group, select a frequency (Hourly or Daily) and enter in the URLs to be added to the Group. The frequency of monitoring is specified at the group level and alerts will be triggered accordingly. If hourly is selected, then alerts can be sent every hour when a change is detected. If daily is selected option, then alerts will be triggered at midnight US Central time when a change is detected.
